In a heartfelt tribute to veterans, Prince Harry took a moment to recognize those who have served their countries on Veterans Day and Remembrance Day, celebrated every November 11.
This year, his poignant message comes as he notably missed the royal family’s reunion during the traditional Remembrance Sunday service.
The Duke of Sussex, now 40 years old, expressed his gratitude in a statement directed towards “my fellow veterans.” He commemorated both the living and the fallen heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice in significant wars, including the First and Second World Wars.
“I want to express my enduring respect and gratitude for the dedication you and your families have shown — through both conflict and times of peace,” Harry remarked, reflecting on the profound impact that military service has on individuals and their loved ones.
Highlighting the importance of these sacrifices, he noted, “Your commitment has been essential in upholding the values of liberty, freedom, and security.
These principles connect us and have molded you into exemplary leaders.”
As global challenges continue to rise, Harry urged veterans to remember the sense of unity and purpose that guided their service.
He encouraged them to apply that same spirit within their communities, acknowledging the vital role they play even after leaving military life.
“Your strength and moral integrity reveal that genuine power is found in our collective ability to unite and tackle the challenges we face,” he added, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in overcoming difficulties.
Harry’s message was issued just a day after his royal relatives participated in the Remembrance Sunday service in London, where they laid wreaths at The Cenotaph war memorial.
Unlike his family, Harry chose to honor veterans from afar, showcasing his own unique path.
With a decade of military experience, including two deployments to Afghanistan, Harry has long had a deep connection to those who serve.
Earlier this year, he was honored as a “Living Legend” and inducted into the Aviation Hall of Fame for his contributions.
He continued, expressing hope that communities would reciprocate the support veterans provide, stating, “Even if you no longer wear the uniform, your contributions remain invaluable.” His words sought to reinforce that the respect for veterans should extend beyond mere acknowledgment.
Moreover, he emphasized that true gratitude should manifest through action, urging everyone to create a world that honors the sacrifices made by previous generations and safeguards it for future ones.
“To every individual who has served — whether in the past or present — I offer my sincerest admiration and appreciation.
Your dedication has left a lasting imprint on our communities, nations, and our collective future.
It is a privilege to stand alongside you,” the duke concluded warmly.
Although Harry remains in Montecito, California, he continues to advocate for veterans through initiatives like the Invictus Games, which he founded in 2014 to celebrate wounded and injured servicemen and women through sports.
Interestingly, while Prince Harry and Meghan Markle opted out of the Remembrance Day events, they made headlines with a joint video appearance discussing the crucial issue of online child safety through their Archewell Foundation, marking their first public appearance together in months amidst ongoing discussions about their evolving work priorities.
