During the recent Billboard Music Awards, R&B sensation Miguel took his performance to new heights – quite literally.
The singer’s electrifying act included a daring kick-jump that left fans stunned, a couple of unfortunate individuals nursing injuries, and social media buzzing with endless gifs.
Dressed in a stylish all-white ensemble, Miguel was belting out his popular track, “Adorn,” when he decided to showcase his agility by leaping over a crowd-filled pit from one part of the stage to another.
However, his ambitious leap fell short, resulting in an unintended collision with a fan’s face and an awkward landing on another’s arm.
As captured in video footage of the incident, the first fan stumbled to the ground instantly as Miguel, visibly surprised, carried on with his performance while seated on the stage.
Despite the mishap, he showed concern by reaching back multiple times to ensure the fan’s well-being, leaving the audience in a state of both disbelief and admiration.
Reflecting on the mishap, Miguel took to Twitter to express relief that the fan, identified as Khyati, was unharmed.
In a follow-up tweet, he humorously attributed the incident to the spirit of rock and roll that apparently overtook him during the performance.
Following the show, Khyati joined Miguel backstage, displaying a cheerful demeanor despite the unfortunate encounter.
Miguel confessed to Billboard’s editorial director, Bill Werde, that he had misjudged the jump, acknowledging the mishap with candor.
Acknowledging the unpredictability of live performances, Miguel admitted that such unexpected moments come with the territory but confessed that this incident was far from ideal.
Despite the unexpected turn of events, Khyati, sporting an ice pack on her arm, maintained her admiration for the singer, declaring, “I Adorn him,” with a smile.
