**Luke Bryan Offers Support to Carrie Underwood as She Takes on Idol Judging Role**

In a recent chat, Luke Bryan shared some heartfelt advice with fellow American Idol judge Carrie Underwood, who is stepping into her role for the very first time.

The country music star, known for his hit “Kick the Dust Up,” opened up about what it’s like for Underwood as she navigates her new responsibilities.

Speaking to E!

News at the CMA Awards, Bryan, 48, highlighted the unique challenge Underwood faces.

“The thing about it is Carrie has to kind of learn in real time,” he explained.

“There really isn’t a school for judging on American Idol.” For Underwood, 41, this journey is all about adapting and finding her footing alongside the contestants.

Bryan took a moment to praise Underwood’s natural ability to connect with the aspiring singers.

He noted that she possesses an incredible spirit and heart, making her a wonderful addition to the judging panel.

“She’s doing a great job and really settling into the judging table,” he remarked, clearly impressed with her initial efforts.

However, it’s not all smooth sailing for Underwood.

According to Bryan, there’s one significant hurdle she’s grappling with: saying “no.” He observed that when faced with the tough decision to turn someone down, she struggles, often expressing reluctance.

“When she has to say ‘No’ she’s like, ‘I don’t wanna tell them no,’” he shared.

This emotional challenge can be particularly tough when dealing with young talent still discovering their musical identity.

Earlier this year, during a conversation with Seattle radio host Gabe Mercer, Bryan humorously suggested another piece of guidance for Underwood.

In a TikTok clip, he joked about the need for extra therapy sessions, given the emotional toll of the judging role.

“If she has a therapist, she’s probably going to have to double to deal with me and Lionel,” he quipped.

Underwood’s entry into the judging arena comes after a notable career, including winning American Idol’s fourth season back in 2005.

She was officially introduced as Katy Perry’s replacement on the show during an announcement on Good Morning America earlier this summer.

The reveal of Underwood’s new position was underscored by nostalgic footage from her own Idol audition two decades ago.

Reflecting on that pivotal moment, she recalled, “I remember being at home in our little house and seeing on TV that there were auditions in St. Louis.” It was a life-changing experience, made possible thanks to her mother’s encouragement to drive her to the auditions.

From those humble beginnings to now sharing her expertise with a new generation of hopefuls, Underwood has come a long way.
