The remarkable journey of Jessica Simpson’s weight loss has been a major point of interest since she disclosed shedding 100 pounds post the arrival of her third child.
At 43 years old, Jessica has been transparent about her path to health and fitness, addressing the matter in an interview in July where she refuted claims of relying on the controversial Ozempic treatment.
In a conversation with Bustle, the mother of three emphasized that her substantial weight loss was attributed to “willpower” and giving up alcohol, not Ozempic.
“Oh Lord.
I mean, it is not [Ozempic],” she expressed.
“It’s willpower.
I’m like, do people want me to be drinking again?
Because that’s when I was heavier.
Or they want me to be having another baby?
My body can’t do it.”
Despite attempting to ignore the negativity, Jessica admitted that the ongoing discussions about her weight do have an impact.
“Am I going to let the negativity derail me?
No, I’m too old for that,” she affirmed.
“I am too connected to myself right now to let that derail me.
It doesn’t mean that it doesn’t hurt.”
Acknowledging the fluctuations in her weight over time – ranging from a size 0 to 12 – the Dukes of Hazzard star found a positive aspect in how her varied sizes have influenced her fashion brand.
“I am fortunate to have been every size,” she remarked.
“For [my] brand, understanding the women [who buy our products], and for my psyche.”
Jessica has been candid about her struggles with weight previously, mentioning in her 2020 memoir, Open Book, that she resorted to diet pills to manage her weight when she first entered the music industry.
Last year, Jessica shared that she sought professional guidance to revamp her lifestyle, leading to a remarkable 100-pound weight loss within six months of giving birth to her daughter, Birdie, in 2019.
“I went to a nutritionist, and I needed to get my eating habits right,” she disclosed to Extra.
“I have a lot more energy and I get to wear all the clothes that are in storage.”
Highlighting the significance of hard work, determination, and self-love, Jessica attested to the efforts she invested in achieving her current state.
Embracing a healthy eating regimen and ensuring to walk 14,000 steps daily were integral to her transformation.
In a 2022 Instagram post, Jessica shared her perspective on her journey, viewing it not just as a weight loss venture but as a pathway towards empowerment, self-love, and acceptance.
“It’s one of those things [where] we all want what we can’t have.
We all want the body type that we aren’t [and] that we can’t change.
So, it’s about accepting and loving ourselves for who we are.”
