In a poignant gesture ahead of his forthcoming documentary addressing homelessness, Prince William has unveiled a collection of previously unseen photos capturing moments between him and his late mother, Princess Diana.
These images were shared through The Passage, a charity dedicated to creating a future where everyone has a place to call home.
The charming snapshots were posted on The Passage’s Instagram page, featuring a youthful William alongside Princess Diana and his brother, Prince Harry.
The trio is seen engaging with guests at The Passage’s center, including a delightful moment of the future king engrossed in a game of chess.
Accompanying the photos, The Passage announced an upcoming two-part documentary set to air on ITV and ITVX, titled “Prince William: We Can End Homelessness.”
This film will provide viewers with an intimate look at the inaugural year of a five-year initiative aimed at transforming perceptions about homelessness and showcasing that it is indeed feasible to eradicate it.
Mick Clarke, Chief Executive of The Passage, shared insights into the prince’s motivations, stating, “For William, this cause is deeply personal.
His connection to homelessness dates back to when his mother introduced him to The Passage at the age of eleven.
That experience laid the foundation for @HomewardsUK.”
Reflecting on his own journey, Prince William recounted how his visits to The Passage during his formative years, and even as an adult, have profoundly influenced his perspective on social issues.
He recalled, “My mother brought me to The Passage; she took both Harry and me there.
I must have been around 10 or 11.
It was my first encounter with such a reality, and I felt a bit nervous about what lay ahead.”
Addressing critics who question his commitment to this cause given his royal status, William stated, “If I tried to respond to every critic, I would be here all day.
Yet, I believe that criticism can propel you forward.
While it’s healthy to ask questions, we are ultimately focused on fostering change, hope, and optimism in a world that has often lacked these elements.”
He expressed his desire to bring something unique to the table, aiming for a fresh approach to tackling homelessness.
“I hope to contribute something that hasn’t been tried before,” he added with a sense of determination.
