** Eva Amurri Reflects on Her Childhood Under Susan Sarandon’s Strict Dietary Rules**

Eva Amurri, the daughter of acclaimed actress Susan Sarandon, recently opened up about her mother’s stringent approach to nutrition during her upbringing.

In an interview with SheKnows for their 2024 holiday digital issue, Amurri revealed that her mother’s health-conscious mindset was so intense that she considered even Cheerios to be “junk food.”

Amurri humorously described her mother as a quintessential “almond mom,” illustrating just how serious Sarandon was about healthy eating.

She reminisced about how her mother would trek down to the only organic grocery store in New York City back in the early ’80s to stock up on wholesome provisions.

“My mom was dedicated to finding the best foods available,” Amurri noted.

The dietary restrictions imposed by Sarandon had a significant impact on Amurri’s perception of food.

“She genuinely believed that Cheerios were junk food—that’s how committed she was to being an almond mom,” Amurri continued, emphasizing the extent of her mother’s health obsession.

Amurri shared that her mother often sends her children cereals that they find unappealing, describing them as “disgusting.” Amurri confessed, “I eventually had to stop pretending I liked it,” indicating a humorous frustration with her mother’s choices.

At 39, Amurri is now the mother of three—Marlowe Mae, 10, Major James, 8, and Mateo Antoni, 4—with her ex-husband Kyle Martin.

She recently married chef Ian Hock in June and is intent on fostering a healthier relationship with food among her kids.

Unlike her upbringing, she acknowledged that her children enjoy fast food occasionally and indulge in McDonald’s roughly once a week.

“My youngest will eat half an ice cream cone and say, ‘I think I’m done,’” she explained.

This attitude, according to Amurri, stems from her own laid-back approach to eating, which encourages moderation rather than obsessive restriction.

Sarandon, who is now 78, has previously credited her youthful appearance to a balanced diet and regular physical activity.

She shared these insights with People in 2020, suggesting that laughter and avoiding smoking also play vital roles in maintaining her health.

Back in 2017, she elaborated on her beauty secrets with Vogue, emphasizing the importance of staying hydrated and steering clear of extreme diets.

This holistic approach to well-being seems to resonate through her family dynamics, albeit with a modern twist that Amurri embraces.

As Amurri navigates motherhood, she appears keen on balancing healthy habits with the
