Drew Barrymore’s life has been a rollercoaster, filled with ups and downs, but now she is sharing her story of resilience and newfound happiness.

However, her path took a tumultuous turn from being a beloved child star to a troubled teenager, seeking rehabilitation at the age of 13 to address her wild lifestyle, and again at 15 following a suicide attempt.

Now 49, Drew has been sober since 2019 and recently disclosed in an interview with US Weekly how she decided to rewrite her own narrative.

Having battled a “bad girl” image throughout her life, Drew expressed that becoming a mother to Olive, 11, and Frankie, 9, made her realize she deserved better than her past self-destructive behaviors.

Acknowledging her long-standing struggle with alcohol, Drew shared that she began drinking at nine years old but reached a turning point in 2019 when she made a firm decision to quit for good.

Reflecting on her journey, Drew admitted that it took her nearly 35 years to break free from the grip of alcohol and reclaim control over her life.

Embracing both personal and professional growth, Drew highlighted the importance of time as a transformative force that allowed her to evolve and find peace within herself.

Despite her success in maintaining sobriety, Drew humbly stated that she does not consider herself a wellness expert but rather a work in progress, particularly in terms of mental and emotional well-being.

Regarding her past relationships, Drew revealed that she cherishes the friendships she maintains with former partners and emphasized the significance of not letting the past dictate her present happiness.

Celebrating her youthful adventures and acknowledging the joy they brought her, Drew expressed gratitude for those experiences that ultimately led her to a place of contentment and self-acceptance.

Currently single, Drew emphasized her commitment to prioritizing her children, friends, and career, setting boundaries to protect her inner peace and not allowing toxic relationships to disrupt her life.
