Donald Sutherland Refutes Allegations of Authenticity in ‘Don’t Look Now’ Intimate Scene

Donald Sutherland, the renowned actor, has firmly rejected recent allegations suggesting that the intimate scene with Julie Christie in the movie “Don’t Look Now” was genuine.

The claims arise from Peter Bart, a former editor at Variety and executive at Paramount, who detailed in his upcoming book, “Infamous Players: A Tale of Movies, the Mob, (and s**),” that he was present on the set in Venice during the filming of the controversial love scene.

Bart conveyed that director Nicolas Roeg indicated to him that it was an opportune day for his visit.

He described witnessing what he believed to be more than mere acting, asserting that Sutherland and Christie were engaging in intimate acts during the filming.

Bart specifically mentioned observing Sutherland in physical proximity to Christie.

In response to Bart’s assertions, Sutherland spoke to The Hollywood Reporter, vehemently refuting the claims.

He directly addressed Bart’s statements as false, stating categorically, “Peter Bart misleadingly asserts that he observed the filming of the love scene in Don’t Look Now and witnessed intimacy.

That is incorrect.

There was no such occurrence.

He did not witness any intimate moments.”

Sutherland further clarified that throughout the filming process, only four individuals were present in the room – himself, Julie Christie, director Nicolas Roeg, and director of photography Tony Richmond.

He emphasized that there were no external observers present, highlighting the security measures in place
