Christina Applegate Struggles with MS Relapse: Opens Up About Painful Symptoms

Christina Applegate, the well-known actress, has recently shared the challenges she is facing during a severe relapse of her multiple sclerosis (MS) symptoms.

The 52-year-old star revealed the distressing details of her ongoing battle with MS on her MeSsy podcast, co-hosted by Jamie-Lynn Sigler.

In a candid moment during the podcast, Applegate courageously disclosed the intensity of her current struggles, stating that she is in the midst of a severe relapse.

When asked by Sigler about the nature of her relapse, Applegate described experiencing excruciating pain in her legs, which has made simple tasks like walking extremely difficult and risky.

She also mentioned peculiar sensations such as tingling feelings from her buttocks down and strange eye movements that have disrupted her sleep patterns.

The actress confessed to her listeners that she has been unable to sleep for a whole day due to an abnormal eye condition that occurs whenever she tries to rest.

Despite reaching out to her medical team for assistance, Applegate expressed her disappointment at not receiving the help she urgently needs.

Applegate further revealed the toll the relapse has taken on her mental well-being, sharing that she recently battled deep depression after returning from a supposed rejuvenating vacation.

She admitted to going three weeks without showering due to the debilitating effects of her condition, resorting to alternative hygiene practices to cope.

Expressing the severity of her physical state, Applegate expressed concern over the lack of energy and poor circulation in her legs, highlighting the constant pain she is enduring.

Since announcing her MS diagnosis in August 2021, Applegate has been open about her journey with the disease, embracing her reality with a blend of courage, honesty, and humor.

Reflecting on her diagnosis during the filming of the final season of “Dead to Me,” Applegate recalled how her symptoms began with tingling in her toes and progressed to the point where she needed a wheelchair on set.

She credited fellow actress Selma Blair for encouraging her to get tested for MS, acknowledging that without Blair’s intervention, her condition could have worsened.

Through her openness about her struggles with MS, Applegate aims to raise awareness and provide insight into the challenges faced by individuals battling similar conditions.

Her journey serves as an inspiration to others dealing with chronic illnesses, showcasing resilience and strength in the face of adversity.
