When it comes to Thanksgiving, Chrissy Teigen is shaking things up in a way that’s both surprising and entertaining.
In a recent interview with Travel + Leisure, she revealed the unique sources for her holiday meal this year, which includes an unexpected stop at Disneyland.
Teigen, the renowned model and cookbook author, plans to snag a hefty order of “20 smoked turkey legs” from the iconic theme park.
“Turkey doesn’t get better than that,” she exclaimed, expressing her enthusiasm for the park’s culinary offerings.
“We’ll just lean up against the dumpster and pick at turkey legs when we’re at Disneyland,” she laughed, referring to her quirky plan to enjoy a casual feast during their visit.
To her, there’s something special about those turkey legs that makes them taste almost like ham, a flavor she finds irresistible.
But that’s not all!
When it comes to gravy, Teigen has some fast-food favorites in mind.
She intends to grab this essential holiday condiment from Popeyes and KFC.
Why?
Because, as she puts it, if you love the taste of something and can’t replicate it, why not just bring it in?
Teigen shared that over the years, she’s learned to take the pressure off herself during the holidays.
“I used to stress so much about Thanksgiving being perfect,” she admitted.
“But the holidays are really about family, not about slaving away in the kitchen.” Her approach now focuses on keeping things light-hearted and enjoyable.
In addition to her unconventional main course, Teigen proudly claims the title of “side queen,” preparing a whopping 15 side dishes.
“We’ll serve a classic green bean casserole with cream of mushroom soup and crispy onions,” she teased, revealing a sneak peek into her festive menu.
Other must-haves include her husband John Legend’s grandmother’s collard greens and her own mother’s scalloped potatoes, alongside her personal favorite: stuffing.
Clearly, Teigen has a knack for blending tradition with her own flavorful twists.
Interestingly, the culinary star confessed to cooking up three large chickens instead of turkey.
“I’ve tried everything from deep-frying to smoking, but I just can’t seem to nail turkey,” she explained, showcasing her willingness to adapt in the kitchen.
Teigen and Legend, who tied the knot in 2013, have built a vibrant family together.
They are proud parents to Luna, 8, Miles, 6, and twins Esti and Wren, both just 1 year old.
With such a lively household, the couple enjoys ending their holiday celebrations with fun game nights.
In preparation for this year’s festivities, Teigen took it upon herself to scour the internet for every board game she could find.
It seems this Thanksgiving will be filled with laughter, delicious food, and plenty of family bonding time.
As Teigen embraces this new, laid-back approach to Thanksgiving, it’s clear that her focus is on enjoying the moments with her loved
