Bill Murray’s Alleged On-Set Behavior: Geena Davis Reveals Details

Geena Davis has stepped forward with additional insights into the alleged harassment she faced from Bill Murray while on set.

The duo shared the screen in the 1990 crime comedy Quick Change.

Davis has previously recounted their appearance on The Arsenio Hall Show in 1990, where Murray’s actions made her feel uncomfortable, as he continuously touched her bare arm and even adjusted her dress straps.

Moreover, Davis has shared an unsettling experience from her audition for Quick Change, where Murray reportedly used a massage device referred to as “The Thumper” on her despite her objections.

In a recent interview with journalist Kara Swisher on the podcast On With Kara Swisher, Davis revealed another distressing incident involving Murray yelling at her during filming.

During the podcast discussion, Davis described a chaotic scene being filmed on a Manhattan intersection with numerous extras and crew members present.

An assistant director instructed Davis to remain in her trailer and wait for costumes.

Suddenly, Murray, dressed as a clown, burst into the trailer in a fit of rage, demanding her immediate presence on set, using profanity and shouting at her to hurry up.

Davis recounted feeling overwhelmed and ashamed by the encounter, highlighting how emotionally challenging it was for her given her desire to perform professionally.

The Independent reached out to Murray’s representative for a response regarding the allegations.

This isn’t the first instance of a public figure speaking out about their negative experiences with Murray.

In 2021, Lucy Liu shared her own account of a dispute with Murray while filming Charlie’s Angels in 2000.

Additionally, production on Aziz Ansari’s film Being Mortal was reportedly halted last year due to an alleged complaint of inappropriate behavior involving Murray.

Reports later surfaced detailing the nature of the complaint, indicating that Murray had engaged in inappropriate physical contact with a young female staff member.

Murray addressed the incident in an interview, acknowledging the misunderstanding and expressing a desire to reconcile.

He emphasized the importance of mutual respect and understanding in professional relationships, noting that collaboration becomes futile without trust and harmony.

The revelations surrounding Murray’s behavior shed light on the complexities and challenges present in the entertainment industry.

The need for accountability and respectful conduct on set remains paramount, underscoring the significance of creating safe and inclusive work environments for all individuals involved in filmmaking.

Such incidents serve as reminders of the ongoing efforts required to foster a culture of professionalism and mutual respect within the industry.
