Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis Spark Controversy with Decision on Children’s Inheritance

The news of Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis choosing not to leave any money to their children, Wyatt Isabelle aged 8, and Dimitri Portwood aged 6, has resurfaced, stirring up a heated debate online.

This decision by the celebrity couple has reignited discussions surrounding ‘nepo babies’ in the midst of an ongoing controversy.

The topic of nepo babies gained significant traction in December 2022 following a viral New York magazine piece that highlighted nepotism in Hollywood, leading to various relatives of famous personalities expressing their opinions on the matter.

While figures like Jamie Lee Curtis and Kate Hudson have shared their thoughts, Kutcher and Kunis had previously refrained from commenting until now.

Recent tweets brought back Kutcher’s statements regarding their choice not to establish trust funds for their kids, citing a desire to prevent them from becoming entitled or spoiled and instead encouraging them to work hard.

These comments mirror those made by Kutcher during an interview with Dax Shepard on the Armchair Expert podcast in 2018, where he disclosed their intention to donate their estimated combined net worth of $275 million to charity rather than passing it down to their children.

Despite making these remarks prior to the popularization of the term ‘nepo baby,’ social media users have actively engaged in the discussion this week, with some referencing the couple’s decision in light of the ongoing debate on inherited wealth.

One tweet humorously noted how fortunate the children are to be informed that their parents are wealthy, not them, while others expressed sadness at the thought of the kids missing out on nepotistic advantages.

While Kutcher mentioned a possibility of financially supporting his children if they venture into entrepreneurship, he firmly stated that they would not receive trust funds.

Some online voices have advocated for reconsidering this stance, suggesting that even a modest inheritance could be beneficial given the economic challenges faced by many young individuals today.

Though Mila Kunis has not directly addressed their financial plans for their children, she previously emphasized the importance of raising them without a sense of entitlement, echoing her husband’s sentiments on avoiding spoiling them.

In a 2017 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Kunis stressed their commitment to not contributing to the population of ‘assholes’ in the world while striving to nurture kind and grounded individuals.
