It’s generally considered unwise to etch a permanent reminder on your skin that encapsulates a connection that could potentially end in heartache and discord – as relationships often do.
Angelina Jolie, however, has disregarded this cautionary advice not once, but twice.
Initially, she famously sported a tattoo of “Billy Bob” on her arm during her union with Billy Bob Thornton.
Following their separation, she opted to erase that mark and replace it with the geographical coordinates of the birthplaces of her six children and Pitt.
Recently, fresh photographs have surfaced online depicting Jolie receiving another tattoo just months prior to her abrupt decision to file for divorce from Pitt.
As per reports from Yahoo Entertainment, Jolie and Pitt underwent the tattooing process together, choosing identical designs and patterns that were intended to serve as a symbolic link, bonding them as a married couple – an attempt that seemingly fell short.
The pair visited Cambodia to receive their new tattoos from ex-Thai Monk Ajarn Noo Kanpai, who employed a traditional, painful technique utilizing a single elongated handheld needle.
Jolie opted for sacred Buddhist markings on her upper back, while Pitt purportedly selected Buddhist symbols for his stomach area.
Allegedly, the tattoo session took place in February the previous year when Jolie was filming First They Killed My Father in Cambodia.
Just seven months later, she initiated the divorce proceedings.
