**Meghan Markle Advocates for Digital Wellness with Youth in California**

Last week, Meghan Markle took a break from her usual engagements and surprised a group of young people during an interactive afternoon filled with games and crafts.

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, visited Girls Inc. of Greater Santa Barbara on October 2nd to support their new initiative focused on digital wellness, aptly named Social Media U.

Girls Inc., a well-respected nonprofit organization aimed at empowering girls to be “Strong, Smart, and Bold,” is collaborating with #HalfTheStory, another nonprofit committed to fostering a healthier relationship between the youth and technology.

Together, they are rolling out this program across the United States.

They engaged with the teenagers on various scenarios, discussing the emotional impact of social media.

“Meghan shared her experiences about being one of the most bullied individuals worldwide,” May recounted in an interview with Vanity Fair.

During the session, the participants used emoji signs to express how different scenarios affected them emotionally.

May emphasized that discussions revolved around the realities of growing up in today’s digital landscape, highlighting the importance of navigating these challenges together.

The curriculum for Social Media U was developed with input from teenagers serving on #HalfTheStory’s advisory board.

The program’s goal is to encourage young people to connect with each other without screens while also leveraging technology for creativity and positive interactions.

Financial backing for this initiative comes from Meghan and Prince Harry’s Archewell Foundation, along with support from the Oprah Winfrey Charitable Foundation and Melissa French Gates’s Pivotal Ventures.

This collective effort aims to address the growing concerns surrounding children’s safety in the digital world.

Earlier this year, Meghan opened up about the intense cyberbullying she faced during her pregnancies with Archie and Lilibet.

Speaking at the SXSW festival in Texas, she reflected on the cruelty of online hate, especially during such vulnerable times.

She poignantly noted, “It’s not just petty; it’s heartbreaking.

Why would anyone choose to be so cruel during such precious moments?”

In addition to her advocacy work, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have recently launched an initiative called The Parents’ Network, aimed at supporting parents dealing with the complexities of raising children in a digital age.

This network seeks to create a safe community for parents who have experienced firsthand the negative effects of social media on their children.

The network’s mission is clear: to prevent other families from enduring similar pain.

They offer a supportive environment for caregivers grappling with issues like cyberbullying, anxiety, and other social media-related traumas.

Moreover, the Sussexes have released a set of guides focusing on popular social media platforms, intending to help caregivers enhance their children’s safety online.

These resources were created in collaboration with The Social Media Victims Law Center and provide insights into managing the potential risks associated with various platforms.

Recently, Meghan and Harry also made headlines by participating in their first formal broadcast interview together in three years.

During their appearance on CBS News’ Sunday Morning, they expressed their commitment to promoting positive change in the online space, particularly for children.

In her candid discussion, Meghan shared her hopes that her openness about her struggles could resonate with others facing similar challenges.

“If my journey can help someone else feel seen or heard, then that’s truly worth it,” she stated.

As the couple continues to evolve in their roles, recent reports suggest they may pursue more individual engagements alongside joint appearances.

This shift reflects their growing focus on personal passions and initiatives, positioning them as advocates not just as a couple but as separate voices in their respective causes.
